All of the advice, when it comes to newborn photography, will tell you that ideally the session will take place 7-10 days after bub is born.  With Cullen's session, however, he was three weeks new.  Prior to the session, this had me a little worried.  Would he settle?  Would he sleep?

Obviously, I worried for nothing.  The day was extremely warm, which for babies, is perfect when working outside.  Add to that a beautiful garden, complete with Balinese-inspired seating area, and I couldn't ask for more.

Cullen not only slept the majority of the session, but he also pulled the most wonderful faces.  From kissy faces, to big smiles, to this:

Max, the border collie, featured heavily during the family's maternity session, and we made sure he was included during Cullen's newborn session also.

Unless requested otherwise, I try to combine a mix of traditional newborn images, with a more lifestyle and documentary style of image.  I think the later are extremely important, and believe these are the type of images that the little one will treasure when they are grown.

It's also extremely important to get big sis in on the action.

And lastly, some of the whole family.
